Visva-Bharati Opens to Tourists Again – Here’s Everything You Need to Know
Visva-Bharati University, founded by Rabindranath Tagore, is not just an academic institution — it’s a living cultural legacy. Now a proud UNESCO World Heritage Site, this historic campus in Santiniketan is once again welcoming visitors for guided tours.
Good news for travelers and Tagore enthusiasts: Visva-Bharati is now open to tourists every Sunday. The university has announced new visiting rules, time slots, and a structured route to help visitors explore safely and meaningfully.
When Can You Visit?
- Visiting Day: Every Sunday
- Ticket Counter: Tickets must be collected from the Rabindra Bhavana Museum
- Tour Timings (in batches):
- 10:30 AM
- 11:30 AM
- 2:30 PM
- 3:30 PM
- Each batch allows maximum 25 visitors
- Tour Duration: Up to 2 hours (on foot only)
Ticket Prices & Entry Details
Rabindra Bhavana Museum:
- General Entry: ₹100
- With Guide: ₹250
Visva-Bharati Campus Tour:
- General Tourists: ₹300
- Student Groups: ₹50 per student
- Individual Students: ₹150
- Foreign Nationals: ₹1000
Note: All tickets must be purchased from the Rabindra Bhavana Office.

Visitors will enter through the gate opposite the Rabindra Bhavana Museum and follow this guided path:
- Chatimtala
- Patha Bhavana Complex
- Madhabi Bitan
- Ghantatala
- Gour Prangan
- Chhati Bari
- Cheena Bhavana & Hindi Bhavana
- Jawhar Bedi at Amrakunja
- Santiniketan Griha – the oldest building on campus
- Upasana Griha (Prayer Hall) – final stop
After visiting Upasana Griha, all visitors must exit the campus.
