Rabindra Jayanti

It is the birthday ceremony of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. 25th Baisakh according to Bengali calendar, is the birthday of Tagore's. After a Bengali new year(In the month of April) celebration,it is celebrated with cultural programmes by not only the students and teachers of Visva-Bharoti but also by Bangalies.

Barsamangal

July-August is the season of moonson. Cultural shows are held during the Barsamangal. Poets are attracted by the beauty of moonson and wrote many poems, songs.

Rakhibandhan

It is a festival to make a bonding with people each other.In 1905 when British Govt. declared to divide India, Rabindranath Tagore started Rakhibandhan to unite Indians.He wrote many songs like "Bhai bhai ek thai", "Banglar mati banglar jol", "Bidhir bandhan katbe tumi amon shaktiman" ..., etc etc. It is mainly held during the month of October. Shravan-Purnima, according to Bengali calendar is the time of Rakhipurnima. Pupils of Visva-Bharati elebrates the day.

Sharodotsava

Octobar-November is the month of festivals for all Indians.People of Bengal are eagerly waiting for the time. Durga puja, Lakmi puja,Kali puja are the main festivals for all Bangali's. It is an autumnal festival, elebrated by the students of Visva-Bharati. songs and dances are performed before the University closes for the Puja vacation.

Maghotsava

6th day of Magh in 1331 according to Bengali calendar was the day when Maharshi Devendranath was left. Maghotsava is dedicated to Maharshi’s death anniversary. It also marks the anniversary of the Brahmo Samaj and the Founding of Shriniketan.

Basanta Utsav

It is a colorful festivals for all Indians and known as Holi. It occurs at the end of winter when spring comes with its beauty. Falgun and Chaitra according to the Bengali calendar is the season of Dol utsav.

Briksharopan and Halkarshan

Nature is the nearest friend of Human being, a part of life. A tree planting ceremony is preceded by Halokarshan (ploughing).

Barsamangal

July-August is the season of moonson. Cultural shows are held during the Barsamangal.

Bolpur subdivision is located at south border of Birbhum district. About 150 years ago Bolpur was a small villege under supur porgana. But now it has become an international city. Kalikapur a known place of Bolpur was the origin of the villege in past.

Santiniketan has the distinct identity of culture and heritage, which gives the place a unique soft touch. Santineketan was previously called Bhubandanga (named after Bhuban Dakat, a local dacoit). Tagore family came to be owned this place.

Visva Bharati has two main parts. Srineketan and Santineketan both are consistently called Visva Bharoti. The towns and the university are situated not too far away from the river Kopai which flows to the south.
